Equine and Animal Art on eBay

 Grazing Horses

Desert  Horse

A Thing of Beauty

I have some of my smaller daily paintings up for sale by auction on eBay.  I use these as part of their Giving Works Program to help out various animal rescues and therapy programs.  The paintings above are up for bids now.  Since I am a daily painter I add new work often.

Happy Appy

This appaloosa painting is at another site using a different auction format.  It also will benefit a horse rescue.

These are all original oil paintings  One of a Kind and make unique gifts.

Thank you!

Painting Demo for an Equine Therapy Program

I don't have to tell horse people how healing it can be to be around horses.  Sometimes non horse people need to be educated on the unique role horses can have in a hurting or troubled person's life.  I know for myself my horses have a way of grounding me, calming me and focusing me that I really can't get in the same way from anything else.  I painted this slightly abstract horse oil painting as a live demo during a fundraiser for PBJ Connections.   It was wonderful experience and I was very thankful to be a part of it.

This painting is sold but very likely we will be offering prints with a portion going to benefit this program.  You can check with me thru my web site at  if you have an interest and I will be sure to let you know when they are available.

Morning Light

Morning Light 11 x 14 oils

I went out early to photography my horses.   The ground had a heavy dew.  The mist had started to clear and bits of light came thru the trees.  My appy was content and serene so I came inside and painted this with thick paint, a palette knife and bristle brushes.  I let the painting just develop.

Mariah, the Mustang

The Wild Mustangs are currently taking quite a beating as they are being rounded up by helicopters and adopted out or slipping thru the cracks and either ending up in neglectful homes or slaughter.  Mariah was one such horse who was nominated to be a Save A Face Painting  by facebook friends on the Save A Face, helping rescues page.

Mustangs receive a freeze mark brand on their neck like Mariah has in this painting.   This is a 9 x 12 original oil painting on hardboard painted in a lively painterly manner with visible brushstrokes, vibrant color and a slightly abstract slant to make it interesting and engaging.  A portion of the sale of this painting will go to benefit the rescue that helped Mariah,

~~~Sold~~~  Thank you Dona!
Golden Boy, in Oils
This richly textured, slightly abstract, brightly colored golden boy is representative of a horse I was helping to save from the kill pen at a horse auction.  He will soon be on his way to a new home in sunny Florida so I thought it was fitting to celebrate that with this sunny painting.  See if you can find the 'angel' in the painting... as I was painting the abstract background an angel like figure appeared so I kept it in.
This piece is part of my new Save A Face project that I am starting up.  Artwork sold will benefit horse rescues that work to save horses from slaughter.  As an avid horsewoman it pains me to think of all the horses who meet their demise in this way.  If you feel the same, or just like the art, please consider purchasing this or others being sold regularly on e-bay.   You can search on e-bay 'Save a Face', artbysuesteiner2010 or follow this link
Thank you!
The Silver Lining
11 x 14 original oil painting
$150.00 plus shpping and tax
This painting was inspired by a beautiful silver and chocolate colored stud I had the pleasure of seeing at the Equine Affaire in Ohio just a few days ago.  His coloring was beautiful and he had a very sweet manner about him even in the midst of the commotion and noise all around him.  I came up with this title as a reminder to look for the silver lining even in the midst of commotion by quieting myself and just looking.  I love how horses can embody so much wisdom and inspiration.
This abstract equine painting is painted with oils on 11 x 14 hardboard.  I will frame it in a simple black frame.   It can be shipped when it dries in approx. 5-7 days.
You can contact me at 330-957-0204 or by e-mail at if you have any questions.
thank you!
Blue and Red Abstract Horse
I sold the original painting (left) a while ago but changed the colors with photoshop to show someone how this would look to match their color scheme.  In all honesty I could paint this faster than I can fiddle with photo shop!  :)  I thought it was fun to see these side by side.
About the Artist
I am a free lance artist with a studio in the Canton Arts District above the amazing Second April Art Galerie!   If you are in the area please stop by!
My 'offical' web site can be viewed here at
I also have an interactive pet blog at  with places to share photos, animal stories, tributes or participate in contests.
I  enjoy being able to do these fun abstract pieces inbetween commissions.  I think the key to keeping fresh in my art is being able to do the experimental fun stuff you see here.  I appreciate your interest and support.
Painting Ponies
I did this painting as a commission last year.  This was a fun piece because I completely let this one develop with no preconcieved ideas... other than knowing it was to have a horse theme.  I painted an underpainting and then stepped back to look for the horse.  Not only did one horse 'pop' but several did.  I then painted around them.  I called this Painted ponies because one of the horses began to look like an Indian's painted pony.  rahter than sign it with my name I signed it with a hand print.
'White Horse Fantasy' painting in Oils
(either my photo editing program or blogger is playing games on me because this photo will not rotate.  sigh.... turn your head sideways????  sorry!!  I'll come back to it and maybe the computer will cooperate.)
This painting was done during Canton's First Friday.  The crowds were out in full force and had a beautiful, clear, mild night.  This painting was inspired by my horse who I rescued last year, almost a year ago.  It is so nice to see her healthy and happy.  I have a bit of painting still to do on this but I want to keep it loose with an ethereal  feel to it.  I will add a paypal button after I complete this.  To read about this horse go to  Thanks!
Mare and Foal
 Initial sketch in charcoal and pastel
16 x 20, oils 'Mare and Foal in Blue'
This canvas is under painted with a warm corral color.  I used palette knives and brushes on this so there is lots of wonderful texture and surprises were the colors mix in these lovely ways. Touches of  turquoise and cerulean blue along with deep blues and purples, burnt sienna, cad. orange and pearly whites.
I may go back and add some more layers and contrast but was quite happy with the results now so I'll let this dry and see what I want to do.   I will put a price on this in a couple days.
